Our Story
Moaj means "mother" in Kashmiri. In the harshest of Kashmiri winters, mothers often swaddle their children in pashminas for added warmth.
Moaj was created by a group of friends who have lived, worked and travelled extensively across the Himalayas, falling in love with its people, culture and soul.
Our chief creator comes from a long line of Kashmiri artisans and has always been in the family business of pashminas, shawls made from the premium cashmere fabric of the Himalayan mountain goat.
The Moaj brand is a culmination of this unique heritage and decades of exploration, bringing together our passion for adventure and travel, our love of fine textiles and stones and an unwavering commitment to quality and service to our customers.
When you buy from Moaj, we want you to feel the tenderness of a mother’s embrace and the warmth of being home.

About Cashmere
Cashmere wool, known for its unique heat regulating properties, has many distinctive features that make it highly valued in luxury textile production. Cashmere wool can adapt to changing weather conditions. This allows the fabric made from it to be comfortable in various climates—cooling in warmth and providing insulation in cold.
The source of cashmere wool, the mountain goat (ibex), lives at altitudes of around 4,500 m above sea level, where weather conditions are extremely variable and harsh. The wool's properties are naturally developed to help these goats withstand these fluctuating conditions, which then translates to the fabric's versatility.
